The Good Shepherd Thrift Shop

Sustainable shopping and THE place to go for books

Tucked away in Baan Wanna, (opposite Nitan, just before Suay Cherngtalay) you will find The Good Shepherd Thrift Shop. Bursting to the seams with bargains on 2nd hand kids clothes, household items, shoes, DVD's, bags. . you name it they probably have it. However, the main reason I frequent this thrift shop is to stock up on great books at a mere 20bht each. Incredible value, they also have a staggering range so there is something for everyone - from kids books, cookbooks and thrillers, to fantasy, historical tales or autobiographies.

Reusing is key here, and books are the perfect item to shop sustainably for

Money from sales goes towards The Good Shepherd's charity projects, including the BanYa Literacy Centre, among other initiatives. They also sell handcrafted items from other Good Shepherd projects to help raise funds, so you can find some lovely handmade cards, dolls and children's gifts here too.

Reuse, Recycle, Upcycle

Please do remember to bring in any items you no longer need, so that they can sell them or give to a good home. Baby clothes, kitchen and cooking items, toys, handbags, etc. It gives a good reason to do a clear out when you need to get some new books in.

The Bottom Line

The best place to grab extremely reasonably priced 2nd hand, good quality books in Phuket. Also gives you a reason to have a good clear out and drop some items into them at the same time (on a Monday, Wednesday or Saturday).
