OK. But First Coffee
Where to get your coffee fix in Phuket Old Town
This lesser known coffee house on Phang Nga Road has a quaint, no frills industrial vibe to it. Focusing on hand blended teas and coffees including the traditional 'kopi', you get the rare opportunity to witness coffee beans being ground by hand. A wonderful and authentic gem amongst the more commercial coffee shops, and highly recommended setting for an iced or hand ground coffee when in the Old Town.
2. Thalang #31
Can you guess the address? Yes, sitting on a prime position on Thalang Road this place is a kind of day to night experience - 'Coffee Days, Whisky Nights' - where the interior décor reflects this concept. At just over a year old, it focuses on local Thai ingredients with a community shop towards the back. A good spot to people watch with a few tables outside.
3. Dough Brew
In the heart of the ever popular Soi Rommani, you can take a break from the heat in this bright space with chilled tunes and exposed brick walls. We tried something a bit different - the Esyen (iced Thai style coffee), made using coconut milk for a strong and smooth taste. There are plenty of locally produced teas and delightful hand crafted chocolate bars from Southern Thailand on sale too - perfect for gifts.
4. Campus Coffee Roaster
A popular and established coffee house at the intersection of Yaowarat Road and Thalang / Krabi Road, Campus Coffee Roaster also houses the Rommannee Classic Guesthouse. It opens it's doors nice and early at 8am, and can get quite busy even at this time especially on the weekends where people were enjoying the local coffee, chocolates and bakery treats. They focus on Thai coffee beans, and roast their own on site as well as selling coffee from different Thai provinces, organic teas and other related gift items.
Classed as an 'authentic tea and slow drop coffee house', you cannot ignore the picturesque building sandwiched between two towering shop houses on Krabi Road. With a minimalist Japanese interior style, this café serves a selection of Japanese and Chinese teas, hand dripped hot coffee and iced coffee varieties (locally sourced and imported). A beautifully calming space to take a break from the heat.
6. Coffs & Burgh
A charming mix of coffee shop, Instagram haven and antique shop all fused into one boutique on the Thalang Road. Coffs & Burgh serves a range of coffees, teas, fruit shakes and a small selection of sweet treats such as chocolate brownies. If you fancy a coffee surrounded by trinkets and interesting ornaments, then this is the place for you.
